Woman Dies in Thousand Oaks Fire

January 27, 2012

One woman died and twelve people were displaced after a fire swept through a Thousand Oaks apartment building on Thursday.

The fire was reported at 3:00 a.m. near West Olsen Road, which is across the street from the California Lutheran University Campus.

Responding firefighters contained the blaze within thirty minutes.

A search of the units found Josette Trumpy, 59, dead inside her bedroom. The room she was in did not burn in the fire. An autopsy to determine the cause of death is scheduled for Friday.

Trumpy was not a CLU student, according to university spokeswoman Karin Grennan.

Although the fire was contained to only two apartment units, 12 people were displaced due to water and smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation.
