Storm Hits Calabasas, We Survive
February 17, 2009
It wasn’t the apocalyptic downpour that the media had predicted, although Calabasas had the largest accident on So Cal freeways.
A moderate storm hit Southern California, causing a number of wrecks and some flooding, but no major landslides.
Calabasas saw a substantial pile-up on the westbound 101 which involved at least a dozen vehicles. It created a major traffic jam in the early evening, but no serious injuries were reported. No fatalities were reported anywhere throughout L.A.
The CHP stayed busy with wrecks across the Southland through the early morning hours, receiving 1,348 calls in the county from midnight to 6 p.m. This compares with 703 calls during a rainy day one week ago.
