Robert Schimel Dies at 60

Calabasas resident Robert Schimmel died this weekend at a Phoenix hospital.

The HBO actor and stand-up comedian had been hospitalized since an August 26.

According to TMZ.com, his daughter, 19, was driving on an Arizona highway and swerved to avoid another car, which caused her vehicle to roll over. Both his daughter and 11 year-old son survived and are in stable condition.

According to Arizona Department of Public Safety spokeman Bart Graves, the accident occurred on the 101 freeway in Scottsdale. The driver of the SUV fled the scene of the accident but was arrested later that evening, Graves said.
