Tuesday, July 21, 2009–
A power equipment failure at a Moorpark substation created a large power outage that affected over 70,000 local customers on Tuesday afternoon.
The outage hit at 3:42pm and nearly everyone had power restored by 6:00pm.
The vast majority of customers had power restored within a few minutes, but traffic lights were out on PCH for substantially longer, bringing traffic to a walking speed both there and north on Malibu Canyon Road.
A Socal Edison spokesman said the affected areas were Malibu, Agoura, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Calabasas. The Lost Hills sheriff’s station reverted to generator power.

Whoa…lucky that I was out of town
I had some friends experiencing power outage that day. It wasn't fun for them!
Tell me about it. I was there all the time without power in our home.
Phew…thanks heavens, the ordeal is over.
