Optometry Burglary Spree Hits Valley
December 14, 2009
Police says that since April, the same pair of burglars has burglarized over a dozen optical outlets in the Valley.
They haven’t struck in Calabasas proper, but police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them
The most recent burglary happened on November 25, 2009, at the New York Style optometry business located in the 17600 block of Sherman Way in Van Nuys.
Surveillance video showed two men wearing black bandannas covering their faces use a crowbar to smash a glass front door. Once inside, the suspects took about $75,000 worth of expensive prescription eyeglasses, eyeglass frames and sunglasses from display cases and left the scene.
Investigators have not been able to identify the suspects. Surveillance videotape of a recent incident can be seen here.
Anyone with information or who recognizes the suspects is urged to call the LAPD at (213) 486-6940. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
