New Trauma Center Available to Calabasas Residents
July 8, 2010
Los Robles Hospital recently opened a trauma center and received a designation as a Level II trauma hospital.
The hospital, located in Thousand Oaks, serves Calabasas and other communities in the north end of L.A. County as-well-as portions of Ventura County.
A Level II designation means that Los Robles will have the expanded facilities and personnel to treat emergency car crashes, gunshots, drownings, or other critical injuries. Having a closer trauma center means Calabasas residents will receive emergency medical care faster.
Medical experts from L.A. and Ventura counties made the designation after months of review.
“In actuality it took months and months of painstaking preparation to get to this moment,” said Dr. Hannah Grossman, hospital chief of staff, told The Acorn.
The other major area medical facility is the West Hills Hospital and Medical Center located in West Hills.
