Chimpanzee Champ Jane Goodall Speaks in Calabasas

October 27, 2009

Jane Goodall, accompanied by longtime area resident Pierce Brosnan, visited Mountain Restoration Trust to encourage water conservation.

The Daily News reports that while she travels all over the world to talk about the importance of conservation and environmental responsibility, Goodall said it all comes down to a very simple message: One flower planted on a hillside can evolve into a global movement.

“I’ve visited these types of restoration projects all over the world, and it always amazes me how Mother Nature restores herself,” Goodall said.

“Some of you may find a huge devastated area and people will say there’s nothing you can do. But there is. God bless all of you who are doing it.”

The water conservation garden at the Headwaters Corner, off Old Topanga Road and Mulholland Highway, includes more than 100 plants of 35 species, including purple needle grass, walnut trees, and sage – all native to California.
