Husband and Wife Arrested for Bank Robbery

December 1, 2009—

A modern day Bonnie and Clyde didn’t get far.

At 10:10 am yesterday, a “lone male” entered the Bank of America on Kanan Road in Agoura Hills and demanded money, possibly pretending to have a weapon.

The teller complied, but slipped a dye pack in with the loot. Dye packs later explode with ink, marking the stolen money and often the robber. Sheriff’s officials say the pack exploded and the bank robber, identified as Jerry Carr, 49, disappeared into the nearby apartment complex.

Authorities sent in a SWAT team and cleared the Town and Country complex as he barricaded himself in his apartment.

Police contacted the man and he surrendered at about 3:15pm without further incident.

No weapon was found and no one was injured in either the standoff or robbery itself, according to Lt. Scott Chew of the Lost Hills Sheriff’s station.

Police also arrested Carr’s wife, Belinda Jesse, 48, on suspicion of a misdemeanor accessory charge.

Carr’s bail has been set at $100,000 while his wife’s bail was set at only $5,000. As of now, both remain jailed at the Sheriff’s station.
