2 Killed in Car Crash on 101 Freeway Near Calabasas

July 2, 2010

Two people are dead and a third is in critical condition after slamming into the back of a big-rig truck on the Ventura 101 freeway near Reyes Adobe Abobe.

At about 4:40 a.m., a silver two-door car drifted onto the shoulder of the highway and into a parked big-rig truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver and the front-seat passenger, both in their 20s, were killed immediately. The backseat male passenger was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center. The truck driver suffered minor injuries.

The California Highway Patrol says the three right lanes and the Kanan Road onramp were closed until 9 a.m. Southbound traffic was halted briefly while a helicopter landed on the highway to airlifted the injured person to a hospital.
