DUI Checkpoint in Calabasas Friday 2/21
February 19, 2009
While it may seem odd to announce a DUI checkpoint ahead of time, authorities say that awareness of them may discourage drinking and driving, at least that night.
The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting a checkpoint in Calabasas on Friday, February 20, between 6pm and 2am.
Drivers approaching a checkpoint will see informational signs telling them that a sobriety checkpoint is ahead. Once diverted into the lane, they will be detained a few moments while a deputy explains the purpose of the checkpoint.
The Sheriff’s department says that on average when 600 to 700 vehicles pass a checkpoint, deputies expect three or four arrests for driving under the influence.
