Calabasas, CA—April 3, 2009
The Calabasas Method Fest screened 33 feature films and 62 shorts from U.S. and international filmmakers from March 26 – April 2.
Last night, Stella Schnabel won for Best Actress in a feature film for her performance in You Won’t Miss Me, and Patton Oswalt took home the awared for Best Actor for his role in Big Fan, as the independent film festival announced its winners at the Awards Ceremony, tonight at Founder’s Hall at the Calabasas Civic Center.
The award for best picture was presented to “Adam,” directed by Max Mayer and starring Hugh Dancy, Rose Byrne, Frankie Faison, Peter Gallagher, Amy Irvin, and Mark Linn-Baker, while Becky Smith’s “16 to Life” earned the best picture Audience Award.
“16 to Life” also gave Theresa Russell a supporting actress award and Colm Meany won the supporting actor award for “A Deal Is a Deal.”
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who co-directed “Sugar” won best director honors.

Kind of like the Critics awards eh?
Not sure, but more people should be aware of such awards. This is one award which recognizes pure acting.
To be honest, I've not even heard of most of the films listed there.
Hehe, I am not surprised. Not many people I know are fans of pure cinema.
Not sure what you guys like in such movies. I like some 'spice' in my movies.
Yep, as someone above said, these awards are just for acting and quality of the film, irrespective of how popular it was.
The word 'Method acting' always reminds me of the great Marlon Brando. May he RIP.
