BELMONT, CA–October 29, 2009

Police are seeking help in finding a 21-year-old Calabasas man with a mental disability who didn’t return to the Belmont motel he was staying at with his parents.

Shant Furuli-Vogt, who is sometimes called “Shanti,” had traveled to the San Francisco area with his family from Calabasas and was dropped off at an AM/PM Mini Market on Sunday evening. He was expected to walk back to their nearby Motel 6, according to authorities.

He suffers from a mental illness and usually takes medication, police believe he doesn’t have his medication with him. Authorities say he has the mental age of about a 15-year-old.

“We don’t have any evidence that there’s foul play involved, but we don’t know where he is,” said Belmont police Lt. Patrick Halleran.

Shant is white and has brown hair and blue eyes. He is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds.

Belmont is a city in the San Francisco Bay Area, located half-way down the San Francisco Peninsula between San Mateo and San Carlos.
