Calabasas HS Turns to Tech for College Prep

As college counselors disappear, the Las Virgenes school district turns to technology to help prepare kids for college.

“Several area high schools are using an innovative computer program that helps students apply to college, doing everything from giving personality tests to finding a good college match, then sending transcripts and letters of recommendation.

The Conejo Valley, Oak Park and Las Virgenes unified school districts plus Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village all use Naviance.

The program gives counselors, who were stretched thin even before budget cuts, more time to talk to students, educators say.
