UPDATE: Firefighters said they have contained the fire.

#####

A brush fire erupted on the border of Calabasas and Woodland Hills by the northern end of Topanga Canyon, but was largely extinguished within hours.

Firefighters and helicopters made quick work of what one pilot described as a “large loom-up” as they approached the fire. Its location was about two miles east of Topanga Canyon Blvd., south of unpaved Mulholland.

Homes in the unincorporated area were threatened within 20 minutes of the 11:30am call, as the blaze had spread to three acres and 35 firefighters were on the scene. Four helicopters and firetrucks protected about 40 houses in Viewridge.

The area had winds of about 5 miles per hour.

If you have any breaking information on the fire or photos, please mail info@calabasas365.com.

Nope, not yet I guess. Could it be a bush fire?
